Chapter One: Buenos Aires

Landing in Argentina and exploring around our hotel
The first time I ever traveled out of the country alone, I had never traveled on a flight alone longer than to San Diego. Before yesterday I had a different “never” which is having a buddy to travel with longer than a 6 hour flight. Yesterday changed that. Dad and I made the trek from Sac -> Dallas -> Buenos Aires. The biggest bonus was no one in the middle seat on our longest flight from Dallas to Argentina. Free wine, snacks, dinner, catching up on Bible study, movie and some Ted Lasso later - oh a nap - we made it.

Middle seat all to ourselves.

Finally landed on my 6th continent
An hour and a half after waiting in line through customs, we met Dad’s cousin (Osvaldo) who was so kind to pick us up from the airport.
Random fact - I happen to ask Dad if they drive more manual cars here than us and ironically his cousin’s and the other 2 cars we’ve been in so far have all been manual.
The second thing I noticed was how different and how much variety Buenos Aires has in their trees.
We’ve made it to the hotel and dropped off our bags - First things first we needed empanadas. Consensus: they weren’t as good as Bonne Maman’s (My Dad’s Mom). It was fun seeing the type of empanada baked into them (see the photo of just the empanada). Then got a Fugazetta pizza with cheese onions and herbs - Dad got a milanesa smothered in cheese.
Our hotel is technically in a business district but it’s in the middle of everything we need to see so it makes it easy to either walk or uber everywhere so far.
Nap time was a necessity after our travel. Then we got ready and decided to enjoy a nice glass of wine before heading off to our families house for dinner at 8pm

Don’t worry about ll Osvaldo you’re using uber (!!). It’s killing the taxi business in Argentina.
Glad you’re having a good time and experiencing lots of delicious food.
